Web Design Services: Frequently Asked Questions
Let’s put it this way: big chances your potential customers will get their first impression of your business by visiting your website, forming an opinion in just a few seconds. That means it’s extremely important to have an updated website which looks appealing, is user-friendly and responsive, and loads fast.
An old-fashioned or outdated website can cause a bad first impression of your entire business, possibly making potential customers leave and end up on your competitor’s site instead.
Investing in a well-designed and professional website may seem daunting for small business owners, but the fact is that humans are visual creatures and care about design (consciously or not). Studies show that users judge your business based on your visuals, and will often abandon your site if it lacks design or doesn’t offer a user-friendly experience.
Creating a memorable user experience and enabling an instant emotional connection with visitors is more important than the website content itself. Also, when websites have good design, users can easily navigate and effortlessly find what they’re searching for. Good web design makes content easy to access. In the contrary, when navigation, flow and design are not strategically thought through, potential customers may have a bad user experience, feel lost or overwhelmed, and spend less time on your pages.
Users want simplicity and clarity, and are more likely to navigate for longer a good-looking website than an outdated and text-dense website, even if both websites are functionally identical. Graphics, text, images, layout, and interactive elements together contribute to create the user experience experience (UX).
WordPress.org (or self hosted WordPress) is my chosen website platform to build beautiful and affordable websites. Over 40% of all websites in the world are powered by WordPress, and for a good reason.
We love creating WordPress websites mainly due to its flexibility, great web design features and functionalities, and lower price. WordPress is a free, ever-evolving open source website builder, which means anyone can contribute to improve it or create useful functionalities and plugins for the community, with thousands of free options!
I’m not saying SquareSpace or Shopify are bad website builders, they’re just not my platforms of choice for most of my clients as I find them not as flexible and customizable, not to mention the high, ongoing costs.
WordPress is a website platform which is constantly being updated to improve its security and performance. In order to ensure that your WordPress website is as secure and fast as possible, consistent maintenance of the core code is required, as well as updating any plugins you are using. Lucky we can enable automatic updates! But keep in mind it’s important to look after your website to ensure it’s looking and working as it should.
I do not charge a monthly fee to keep your website updated. We’ll set up automatic updates, but if anything isn’t looking or working as it should after we launch, I’m here for you (fees may apply).
Small business owners like you may not have any idea of how much you should pay for a website redesign or update, so let’s break it down. The truth is that the cost of a website redesign can vary so much! It depends on how many pages your website will have, what functionalities you are looking to implement, and also what look and feel you want to achieve.
Depending on what your goals are, your website redesign may be anywhere from $1,200 to $3,000 AUD for a simple website, and upwards of $10,000+ for a larger website with custom features and more advanced graphics or design.
No dramas! We are able to provide a range of add-on functionalities to your website, from eCommerce and online payments to blog setup, newsletter integration and calendar booking functionality. Let us know what you have in mind and we will put together a custom package for your website.

Once we define the web pages your site will have, your job is to provide me with the copy content for each page. You may write it yourself, or have a professional copywriter helping you out. Once I have the content, I can plan around and make any needed adjustments to insert specific keywords that you may have overlooked. Then, the design process begins! Before we get started, I will also need images, logo files, and everything you have available for me to use on your new website. Professional photography or a personal photoshoot provide great features to a website, but no worries if you’re just starting out or don’t have any good photography yet. I can help you find low-cost (or even free) beautiful images for us to add to your website.
